Key Information
- Shakespeare's father was glove-maker and a mayor for the town.
- He lived in the house for over 50 years.
- Shakespeare was born in the "Birth room" of Mary Arden and John Shakespeare.
- He was one of eight children. Most died due to the bubonic plague.
- As John was a mayor, William was allowed to go to school.
- When John Shakespeare died William turned it into a tavern called the Swan & Maidenhead.
- William left the house to Susanna when he died.
